What is the difference between arthritis, hip dysplasia, and old age in dogs?

arthritis
VEGGIE LOVE asked:

What is the difference between hip dysplasia, arthritis, and just old age in dogs. I have a 10 year old rotwieller. Believe it or not. Sometimes when he gets up from laying he seems stiff. After he walks around it goes away. He can still jump off the couch and go after the ball or rope easily though. He only does that about twice a week though because his puppy energy is long gone.lol

Anyway what’s the difference between just old age and something else?

What’s the best way to prevent canine arthritis?

arthritis
Kelly G asked:

I have a 6 year old female shepard mix she also has some rotweiler in her too. Both breed are very suseptible to arthritis, so I’m worried about her getting arthritis in the future. I take her for daily walks and to the dog park occasionally (usually weekends) so she can run around with our other 1 year old pup. She also swims a lot in the summer. So what can I do?

A PSA count of 3 is cause for concern as I understand it. Wondering, bottom line, how long the prostate cancer went undetected. Thank you.

Can anything be done about knee arthritis for an athletic teenager?

arthritis
monique03162003 asked:

So, my 17 year old daughter, who has been playing basketball for 10 years. She is 6′1 and about 200 lbs. She’s been having problems with her knees swelling and a lot of pain. Well, I took her up to U of M to see an orthopedic surgeon who requested an MRI for her knees. The next day she called to say that my daughter has arthritis and that nothing could be done about it. Can this be true? She really wants to continue playing basketball when she goes to college, but the pain is getting worse. Does anyone have any suggestions to help out an athlete?

arnold asked:

Breast cancer research receives 50 times the amount of money that prostate cancer research receives.

40,000 women die per year because of breast cancer. Yet, 27,000 men die from prostate cancer.

Supposedly, dads, sons, and husbands are important to women.

How do you feel about the way-out-of-proportion amount of money that breast cancer resereach receives even though your dads and sons are just as much at risk of dying from prostate cancer?

Do you give money to breast cancer research while giving little to prostate cancer?

What are the odds that an orchiectomy will reduce the size of the prostate if you have prostate cancer at 87?

prostate cancer
critical sister asked:

I have had prostate cancer for years, now all of a sudden a new urologist says I need my testicles removed to slow the growth. Unless it will reduce the size of the prostate and allow me to urinate without a catheter, why shouldn’t I just stick with the injections if it accomplishes the same thing chemically? Is there any benefit to surgery that is worth the pain and risk?
